I never thought I'd go to college, just wasn't concerned enough, I guess.I was young and naive. I never really understood how important it was to have a college education. There were a couple times I thought about going, but never went through with it. There was always an excuse, be it money or fear of the unknown.
I've been working as a cna for the past four years. I've always liked my job, but have come to realize you can't make a career out of it. It's definitely a good start if you want to further your educaton in the medical field, but again, its not a career you can invest your life into. It's hard on the body: both physically and emotionally. So I came to point where I had to decide whether I wanted to further my education in the nursing field or go do something else. I decided to do something else.
It wasn't even a month before school started when I decided to come to SWIC. I was just going to get my generals out of the way, and go from there. I don't have a definite plan but I'm leaning towards teaching english/literature or early childhood education. Either way I'm glad I decided to come back. I really enjoy school. I actually look forward to getting up early and going. I just want to learn!
Going back to school was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I found myself at a crossroads in my life and realized I was not where I wanted to be. There will be lots of obsticles down the path I have choosen, but it will be worth it in the end.I hope you have lots of good things come you way on your journey!
